Yshai Oliel will compete for his first junior Grand Slam singles title on Saturday after he turned in a brilliant performance to win his semi-final early on Friday morning.

The 17-year-old beat the number one seed, China’s Yibing Wu, in a three-set thriller.

Winning the first set 6-4, he then lost the second 6-3 – the first set he’s dropped at the tournament. However, he ran away in the third set, eventually taking it 6-2.

Oliel, who’s ranked fourth in the tournament, and who won the doubles title at the French Open earlier in the year, will take on the 15th seed, Hungarian Zsombor Piros, in Saturday’s final.
