Israeli post office produces commemorative stamp to mark first Torah in space

The stamps feature Jeffrey Hoffman, the first Jewish-American astronaut to enter space who first brought the Torah there in 1985

A new set of commemorative Israeli stamps shows the first Torah that was flown in space.

The stamps also feature Jeffrey Hoffman, the first Jewish-American astronaut to enter space who first brought the Torah there in 1985, Space.com reported on Monday.

The Israeli post office produced only 200 sheets of the stamps, which are being sold online. The proceeds will go towards the production of a film about Hoffman bringing the Torah into space.

“It kind of blows me away. I’ve never been on a stamp before,” Hoffman, now a professor in aeronautics and astronautics, told Space.com.
