Israelis returning from the UK no longer have to quarantine.

The health ministry has designated 20 countries including Britain, Canada, Germany, Cyprus and Greece as “green”, meaning nationals do not have self-isolate for 14 days.

The ministry confirmed: “There is no duty to go into isolation if you arrive in Israel from a Green Location, as long as you did not stay in a Red Location during a 14-day period before your flight to Israel.”

Israelis were also told they can freely travel to Greece, Croatia and Bulgaria, without having to isolate, from Sunday.

The Israeli embassy in London told Jewish News: “We would like to reiterate that the Government of Israel’s regulations on individuals eligible to enter Israel has not changed.”

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office advises British nationals against all but essential international travel – and it has produced a list of countries exempt from this advice – which does not include Israel.

On its website, FCO outlines that “foreign nationals are not permitted to enter unless they are citizens or residents of Israel” with “limited exceptions” applying. Those wanting to make the trip need to “submit requests for permission” with the embassy, and will need to self-isolate for 14 days after arrival, and upon return.
