Israelis sail final race at Rio

Men and women duo teams end their campaign in low-key style.

Eyal Levin & Dan Froyliche

Israel’s two 470 sailing sides saw their chances of reaching the medal race diminish even further on Sunday following the completion of the sixth and seventh races of the Opening Series.

Eyal Levin and Dan Froyliche went into the final three races in 19th place, a whopping 32 points off the to-ten places, with their final three race finishes of 19th, 22nd and 17th place seeing them complete their tournament in 21st place on 175 points, 59 points off a qualifying spot for the medal race.

The women duo Gil Cohen and Nina Amir fared slightly better overall as they finished in 18th place. Finishing the first of the final three races in 5th – their best of the tournament, they then recorded 12th and 13th place finishes, 24 points off top spot.
