Jacobson signs for Wycombe Wanderers

Jacobson in action for the U21 Wales side

Wycombe Wanderers have signed left-back Joe Jacobson on a two-year deal after he was released by Shrewsbury.

The former Maccabi GB Sportsperson of the Year played 43 times for the Shrews, getting on the scoresheet four times, and was voted the club’s player of the season last season.

The 27-year-old Welshman, who has been capped for his country’s U21 side, has also played for Cardiff, Bristol Rovers, Oldham and Accrington.

Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth said: “Joe is a great left-back. I know he’ll do a strong job for us defensively, but he’s got a quality delivery on him and he can chip in with the odd goal as well.

“I first knew Joe at Cardiff a decade ago and could spot at that point that he was going to go on and make it as a player, and to win the Player of the Year at Shrewsbury last season shows how well he’s thought of in the game, so we’re lucky to have him.”

One of Jacobson’s first games will be a glamourous pre-season friendly against Chelsea.
