JCC squad kitted out for their American dream

The delegation with their kit

With the forthcoming JCC Games less than a month away, Team Maccabi GB’s squad have received the kit they’ll be wearing as they go in search of gold medals in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

More than 150 people attended the JCC Maccabi Games Kit Day at Maccabi GB @ Kulanu in Kenton, as athletes and their families received a talk about the Games, before getting the opportunity to try on the kit they will be training and competing in throughout their time in America. Annabel Anisfeld and Daisy Gershon (Great Britain flag); Dylan Bull and Hannah Grunwerg (MGB flag) were also announced as being the official flagbearers for the Opening Ceremony, while Dylan Goldstein and Darcy Goldstein will be the last two people to follow the squad into the Opening Ceremony and will also be carrying a GB flag to separate the Delegation from the one which follows.

The country will be represented by a delegation of 65, which will once more be overseen by Brian and Helena Green, as Heads of Delegation, as well as their 13-person managerial team.

As part of proceedings, the team has made a donation of £16,000 to the Maccabi GB Challenge Tour to Israel, as each athlete from the squad took part in their own individual fundraising efforts, the grand total will help send young members of the Community with mild-moderate learning difficulties on a Tour of Israel, engaging in social, historical, cultural and active experiences which many of their peers would have done on a standard Israel Tour.

The Games, an annual competition held in the United States for young athletes, aged 16 and under, this year takes place between 6-17 August.
