JCoSS in Barnet has been named the top state secondary school in Greater London in the Sunday Times‘ Parent Power guide.

The annual ranking of the country’s top 2,000 primary and secondary state and independent schools according to recent exam results, released online, will be unveiled in this weekend’s edition of the newspaper.

In a letter to parents on Friday, JCoSS headteacher Patrick Moriarty said the accolade “recognises our outstanding results at GCSE and A level, and our rapid rise up the rankings in recent years.”

“The overarching aim of our curriculum, as is well known, is to build accomplished mensches: we value the development of character and integrity higher than raw academic grades,” he told parents.

“I congratulate and bear witness to the students whose hard work is reflected in this award, the families who nurture them and my colleagues whose skill, energy and commitment underpins it all,” he added.
