A terrorist attack in Jerusalem has resulted in the death of a baby, and has injured eight others.

At a Jerusalem railway station, a car ran down passers by, killing a three month old baby girl, Chaya Zissel Braun, before the driver was shot by the police.

The suspected ‘terrorist’ was reportedly from East Jerusalem, and had served time in an Israeli prison ‘for terrorism’ previously, according to the BBC.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed the Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas. He said, “This is how Abbas’ partners in government (Hamas) act. This is the same Abbas who, only a few days ago, incited toward a terrorist attack in Jerusalem”.

Israel’s statesman, President Reuven Rivlin, condemned the attack, saying  that it was an “atrocious murder of an innocent baby girl, a victim of indiscriminate terrorism, [and] should disgust all those who have a heart.. At such difficult times, our hearts are with the bereaved family and we pray for a quick and complete recovery of the wounded.”

Shimshon Halperin, the girl’s grandfather, told Channel 2 TV that “She is a pure baby girl who hasn’t done anything bad to anyone,..She was murdered for no reason.”

According to the Jerusalem Mayor, Nir Barkat, the parents of the murdered three month old baby were United States citizens.
