Jess Philips and Wes Streeting sign up for Limmud 2019

Labour’s Jess Philips and Wes Streeting have signed up to speak at next month’s Limmud Festival.

They will feature alongside peer Lord John Mann and the Brexit Party’s Jewish MEP Lance Forman.

This year’s event feature more than 2,000 participants from at least 33 countries and takes place from 20-26 December near Birmingham.

Streeting is chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on British Jews and has been a critic of Jeremy Corbyn’s handling of the party’s antisemitism row, while Philips has campaigned on issues of women’s rights and the LGBT community.

Both were first elected in 2015 and are looking to retain their seats in the General Election on 12 December.

Lord John Mann, a former backbench MP and chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group against Antisemitism, became the government’s Independent Advisor on antisemitism when made a peer.

Also appearing will be Lance Forman, a businessman who was elected to the European Parliament in 2019. He will discuss the future of UK-EU relations and why he joined the party led by Nigel Farage.

Programming co-chair Jake Berger said: “We are so pleased to be joined by figures from across the political spectrum at Limmud Festival this year. At a time of such political intrigue, Limmud will be the place to engage with key issues for the Jewish community post-general election.”

As well as heavyweights from the world of politics, earlier this month it was announced that Israeli musical icon Idan Raichel will also perform, while other high-profile speakers include Isaac Herzog of The Jewish Agency, transgender Jewish educator Abby Stein and Kfir Damari, co-founder of SpaceIL.
