Jewish care home in Golders Green to close

Management of Clara Nehab House say the site must shut 'with a heavy heart' while offering residents an option to be re-housed

Elderly and young people lock hands

A Jewish care home housing 20 residents in Golders Green is to close later this year because the building needs such extensive refurbishment.

The management of Clara Nehab House, which has been operating since 1965, announced the closure “with a heavy heart” on Friday, saying residents could choose to be re-housed in a Jewish Care home. The 30 members of staff, who are all being made redundant, may also be able to transfer.

The home is owned by Leo Baeck Housing Association, whose trustees said that the building would be sold and any remaining assets disbursed “to communal organisations that provide care and support to the Jewish community in the UK”.
