Jewish duo suffer US Open exits

Jewish interest at this year’s US Open is fading fast after two more players suffered exits in New York on Tuesday evening.

Argentine Diego Schwartzman was beaten by his compatriot Juan Martin del Potro, 6-4, 6-4, 7-6, while Italian Camila Giorgi was beaten 7-5, 6-7, 6-1 by the number 16 seed, Samantha Stosur.

Wednesday sees Israeli Jonathan Erlich get his men’s doubles campaign underway. Teaming up with Mexican Santiago Gonzalez, they face Argentine duo, Guillermo Duran and Maximo Gonzalez in the their first round clash, third on Court 9.

American teenager Noah Rubin also begins his doubles tournament. Playing alongside fellow American Daniel Nguyen, they take on GB’s Daniel Evans and Australian Nick Kyrgios, and are third on Court 11.
