Jewish football team folds – a month before the new season gets underway

MGBSFL campaign will now consist of 29 teams - the fewest amount in more than 45 years - after Redbridge C withdrawal.

Redbridge C (blue) have been forced to withdraw from the League due to a lack of players

Next season’s Maccabi GB Southern Football League will consist of the lowest amount of teams in 45 years after Redbridge C withdrew from Division Two.

The club will still have two sides competing in the League – the ‘A’ side in the Premier Division and ‘B’ side in Division One, with the club’s vice-chair and secretary Richard Bronzite confirming the ‘C’ side folded due a “loss of playing staff”.

With the format for the new campaign – which gets underway on 3 September – having only been announced last week, the east London side’s demise means there will now be 29 teams competing across the three divisions, which is the lowest amount for more than 45 years.
