Jewish man’s car window smashed in following anti-Semitic abuse
A Jewish man was subject to anti-Semitic abuse, before his car window was smashed in in east London.
On Tuesday at 1pm, an Orthodox man exited a shul on Clapton Common in Hackney, when someone shouted “we need to kill all the Jews” amongst other abusive comments, according to volunteer neighbourhood watch group Shomrim.
They claim that the victim entered his vehicle, before the suspect “kicked and smashed a window” of the victims vehicle, before fleeing to a nearby estate.
Shomrim said they attended the scene of the “unprovoked hate crime incident.”
Michael Scher from Stamford Hill Shomrim said “This behaviour is totally unacceptable, I urge anyone who witnessed the incident to call Police on 101.”

The Met Police confirmed the incident to the Jewish News. They said they were called “to outside the Webb Estate, E5 to reports of criminal damage to a car and violence against the driver.
Officers from Hackney Borough attended but the suspect had left the scene. The victim had suffered minor injuries but declined treatment.”
The victim was described as a 28-year-old man, who was in his car when the suspect “came up to the passenger window, kicked and smashed it and shouted anti-Semitic abuse.
The perpetrator was described as a “black man, aged around 24-25 years-old, around 5ft 8ins tall with a medium build and short black hair. He was wearing a grey shirt, black trousers and carrying a black bag.”
The police added, there Community Safety Unit were investigating and appealed for witnesses to call officers via 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via crimestoppers-uk.org. There have been no arrests and enquires continue.
