A Jewish Labour MP is trying to raise £5,000 for a kidney disease charity by cycling from his northern constituency to Brighton.

Fabian Hamilton MP will be riding from Leeds North East to the south coast, in a five-day bike trip in aid of The Polycystic Kidney Disease Charity.

Starting at Leeds Civic Hall on 27 July, he will travel through Derbyshire Leicestershire, Bedfordshire and London, before cycling from the capital to his final destination on Sunday.

Hamilton will cover approximately 55 miles a day, and will be met by Jewish Labour peer Baroness Gould of Potternewton at Brighton Pavilion.

Speaking to Jewish News, Hamilton said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be raising money for little known charity that researches into a cure for this inherited disease which damages so many lives.”

Hamilton, who does regular individual fundraising cycles, has received over £17,000 in donations for a variety of charities so far.

He has previously dedicated his efforts to a ‘Jewish Pilgrimage’ – from Donisthorpe in Leeds to Drancy in France.

During the trip, he visited a number of Jewish landmarks, including the Beth Shalom Holocaust museum in Lincolnshire.
