Jewish Museum’s ‘Jews, Money, Myth’ exhibition extended until October
Display which has been called a 'huge success' by the head of the museum also attracted criticism and antisemitic responses
The Jewish Museum’s controversial exhibition, “Jews, Money, Myth”, which was due to close in July, has been extended to October, due to what museum director Abigail Morris called its “huge success”.
The show, which opened in March to critical plaudits, unpicks the relationship of Jews with money and the frequently resulting instances of antisemitism and stereotypes which follow.
Ms Morris said: “We have been able to contextualise the depth of fear that antisemitism can elicit”, adding that there had been “an enormously positive response” to the exhibition.
She said: “The feedback and comments have been mostly glowing — except for one visitor who wrote ‘you Jews are all rich’. It’s hard to know what that person was responding to.”
But Ms Morris said there had been “incredible interest” from non-Jewish visitors to the Camden premises.
There has now been interest in the London show from museums in Brussels, Amsterdam, New York, Krakow,Warsaw and Sydney.
