JFS community appeal raises more than £1million for students
Harrow-based school is championed by volunteers, ambassadors and donors ahead of its 300th anniversary
JFS has celebrated the outstanding success of its ‘Future Makers’ matched funding appeal, with more than 2,500 donors helping to raise over £1 million to invest in the future of its students.
During the 36-hour appeal, 900 volunteers and ambassadors helped champion the campaign for the largest Jewish school in Europe, as students, parents, grandparents, alumni staff and the wider community came together in an extraordinary show of support.
Dr David Moody, headteacher of the Harrow-based school, said: “The response from our community has been extraordinary. Seeing students choose to thank the teachers and staff who have supported them was one of the most moving moments of the campaign. We are enormously grateful to everyone who helped make this possible and in particular our teachers and staff for everything they do each day.”
Chair of governors, Mark Hurst added: “The funds raised will strengthen educational excellence, SEND and pastoral support, enrich Jewish life and learning and help prepare our students for the future as we approach the school’s 300th anniversary. Thank you to every volunteer member of staff and supporter who made this remarkable achievement possible.”
At the time of writing, the amount raised was £1,058,769 and rising, with more donations still coming in.
