The British arm of a Jewish charity promoting equality in Israel has announced its new chief executive as David Davidi-Brown.

New Israel Fund UK appointed the current Director of Community Strategy at the Jewish Leadership Council as the successor to Adam Ognall, who leaves his role after 10 years at the helm.

Davidi Brown has extensive communal experience, having been chief executive of the Union of Jewish Students, as well as working with  JHub, UJIA and Jewish Care. He has also volunteered with LGBT Jewish group Keshet UK and at Limmud festival.

He said, “I am excited to become Chief Executive of NIF UK. My life and career have been guided by passion for Israel and Social Justice. Determined to build on the phenomenal success during Adam’s tenure, I am delighted to join talented colleagues and trustees”.

“For many people over many years support for Israel was about buildings or defence. Today people around the world come together with the New Israel Fund to build a more equal and just society and defend democracy. I’m honoured to be part of leading these efforts and working with and for our inspiring grantees.”

Welcoming Davidi-Brown to his post, which he will take up in June 2021, Chair, Clive Sheldon QC and incoming Chair, Noeleen Cohen, said he was selected after a “rigorous recruitment process”, and that they are “delighted”.

“We are confident that David will continue to build on the strong presence that NIF has as an advocate for human rights, democracy and equality in Israel, both in the UK and internationally. We were all so impressed by David’s authenticity and passion for our work.”

David was placed at number 15 in Jewish News prestigious 40 Under 40 list, identifying young Jewish leaders shaping the community.
