The Israeli organisation developing the Negev desert has said it is in a strong financial position despite it being “another challenging year for charities”.

JNF UK reported income of £14m and cash balances of £13m in its annual accounts, representing an increase on last year.

The group says the healthy balance sheet means it can continue its work in education, health and community development.

“We have continued to make a major impact on Israel’s Negev communities by developing, sustaining and improving both the vulnerable southern frontline towns and new flourishing communities,” said chairman Samuel Hayek.

“Our very strong cash position that will ensure our long-term ability to keep supporting those organisations in need.”
