Kaye honoured at Chigwell & Hainault cricket AGM

Chigwell & Hainault Synagogue Cricket Club honoured veteran bowler Stuart Kaye at their AGM on Sunday with a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’.

Club captain Matt Murray presented the award as recognition of over 25 years’ service as a stalwart player and long-time committee member.

Stuart has already been honoured for his cricketing ability, as he has previously won the coveted Player of the Year award in 2000 for a remarkable season where he picked up an ‘8 for’ with the ball and a 50 with the bat in a single season. Stuart has been well known for his bowling ‘loop’, focusing on line and length rather than speed, bringing him 6 wickets in 2013 at an average of under 20. Many in the Jewish cricketing world will also know Stuart well as he has arranged the club’s fixtures for a number of years before stepping down for the 2014 season.

Club Captain Matt Murray said: “Stuart’s lack of stature in height does not do justice to the contribution he has made to our club and to Jewish cricket as a whole. He’s a giant of our club and we look forward to many more years seeing the ‘loop’ wreak its havoc on batsmen in London & Essex”.

Chigwell & Hainault Synagogue CC start pre-season nets in March and will be looking forward to building on a successful 2013 where they picked up wins against Southgate, Belmont & Edgware and Old Parkonians. The club are always on the lookout for new cricketers of any age or ability.
