In a statement issued to Jewish News by the Labour leader on Tuesday, Starmer also sent his “deepest condolences to Rabbi Leo Dee and his family” who he said were having to come to terms with “their unimaginable loss.”

Reflecting on Friday’s terror attack in the West Bank, Starmer added:”While the search for the perpetrators of this horrific attack continues, we must ensure the values of peace and justice prevail.”

Starmer said:””The senseless murders of Lucy, Maia and Rina Dee has sent shockwaves throughout the world.

The Labour leader’s message came as prime minister Rushi Sunak had condemned the murder of the three members of the Dee family as “abhorrent” and “appalling.”

Both statements emerged on the day thousands of mourners attended Lucy Dee’s funeral in the West Bank Jewish settlement of Kfar Etzion, where two days earlier her two daughters – Rina, 15, and Maia, 20 – were buried in similar emotionally charged scenes.

Lucy, Rina and Maia were shot at as they were driving in the Jordan Valley on their way to a family holiday.

Their vehicle crashed and the gunmen are believed to have gone up to the car and opened fire on the women at close range.

On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to “get all the evil terrorists who killed our citizens and they will be held accountable with no exception”.
