Keith Breslauer appointed Honorary Colonel in Royal Marines Reserve
King Charles gives seal of approval to UK-based American philanthropist who has raised millions for veterans charity
A former chairman of St. Johns Wood synagogue who has raised millions for a Royal Marines veteran’s charity has been appointed by the King as an Honorary Colonel in the commando forces’ reserves.
Keith Breslauer, the philanthropist who is managing partner of pan-European private equity firm Patron Capital, is a vice patron of The Royal Marines Charity (RMA-TRMC). He has been the lead private sponsor of the RMA since 2010, raising more than £6.5 million for the organisation, with over £3.6 million directed to benevolent support, offering lifelong support to the Royal Marines ‘family’.
To mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day, in June 2024 he joined veterans rehabilitated by the Hasler Naval Service Recovery Centre to complete an 87.5 nautical mile paddle across the English Channel in kayaks, culminating in a re-enactment of the historic landings at Sword Beach, Normandy.
In 2023 alone, Patron’s support helped over 2,700 individuals and offered support to more than 25,000 association members.
Keith Breslauer said: “I am immensely proud to have received approval from His Majesty The King to serve as an Honorary Colonel in the Royal Marines Reserve. As a Trustee for 9 years, and more recently as Vice Patron of the RMA, I have been honoured to work to pay tribute to those who have served or continue to serve in our Armed Forces. As Honorary Colonel I will proudly support existing and spearhead new programmes that help the Service people who give so much for us.”
His role as Honorary Colonel officially took effect on 1 October 2025 and will last for an initial three-year period.
