Kisharon trekkers in a winter wonderland
Eight adventurers scale the UK's highest peak as they raise nearly £30,000 for charity
Eight adventurous trekked scaled the highest peak in the UK this week when they took part in Kisharon’s Ben Nevis Winter challenge.
The eight participants – mother and daughter Suzanne and Lucy Weiniger, 13, Ian Liss, David Bloom, Shaun Ledgerwood, Gideon Krotosky and Kisharon’s Shani Mirwis and Richard Franklin – all received specialist winter skills training before embarking on the 4,408ft climb, which took nearly ten hours to complete. Having completed the challenge, they then took part in a post-climb tour of the Dalwhinnie and Oban whiskey distilleries.
Kisharon Chief Executive Dr Beverley Jacobson said: “We’re so grateful to all those who answered Kisharon’s Ben Nevis Winter Challenge and who invested so much of their time and energy in training and raising funds for our essential services in support of children and adults with learning difficulties.
“We strongly believe in empowering the people we support and giving them the tools to achieve their potential and open up unimagined opportunities for them. By taking on challenge, our intrepid explorers have identified with the people we support who face challenges daily. They have inspired us with their fundraising and raised awareness about people with learning difficulties and the importance of encouraging every individual to play an active role in our community.”
