Kisharon’s 37-hour fundraiser approaches £600k mark

Appeal for the community's leading learning disabilities charity was supported by more than 3,000 donors and 120 fundraising teams

'Thank you' from Kisharon, May 2023

A crowdfunding campaign for the community’s leading learning disabilities charity has raised more than £570,000 in just 37 hours.

More than 3,000 donors ensured Kisharon can continue to fund its essential services for the children and adults they support with learning disabilities and autism.

The money raised from the campaign, which had an original target of £500k, will go towards an annual voluntary income budget of £2.4 million, which goes towards ensuring that essential Kisharon services are maintained – vital with the recent cuts to social care funding.

Thank you from Kisharon

Jessica Levy, Kisharon Fundraising Co-Director said: “The future sees an anticipated 12% increase in demand for our services. This, paired with the cost of living crisis and rising inflation rates means the money raised will make a huge difference.  We are all so grateful for every donation to ensure the people we support can continue to thrive”.

One of the 120 successful fundraising teams was created by a group of people supported by Kisharon who formed the “Enterprise Packing team” and raised over £13,000 from over 200 donors.

Learning and Development Lead Aviva Braunold said: “It’s just incredible to see the amount of support, kindness and generosity from each person who donated to our team. It is the act of giving and support in any way possible which means so much and the words of encouragement have been so motivating, exciting and humbling to receive for everyone in the team – some of who have been following it post by post! We cannot thank everyone enough.”

The crowdfunding campaign – themed on ability – illustrated the value of ability Kisharon places on each individual.  To be mindful of costs Kisharon did not fund a new design campaign.

The charity’s attention now turns its fundraising attention to the upcoming HeART Edit event and other fundraising challenges to further raise money towards the £2.4 million.
