Kosher Kingdom is pressing ahead with plans to open a new branch in Edgware less than two weeks after a major fire forced the closure of its flagship Golders Green store.

The popular kosher supermarket announced that its second location will open to customers on Tuesday, 9 June, providing an additional shopping destination for north-west London’s Jewish community while work continues at the damaged Golders Green site.

Images and videos shared by the retailer show staff preparing the new store ahead of opening day, with shelves already being stocked with a wide range of kosher products.

In a post on social media, the company said: “We look forward to seeing you there and serving the local community with all your favourite kosher products!”

The opening comes at a significant moment for the business following the fire that swept through its Golders Green premises last month.

The Metropolitan Police previously said the blaze was not being treated as suspicious and was believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.

Following the incident, Kosher Kingdom thanked emergency services for their response.

The company said: “We are also incredibly grateful for the many messages, offers of assistance, and kind words we have received from customers, friends, and members of the community. The support has been truly overwhelming and means a great deal to us.

“We understand the inconvenience this situation has caused and are trying to put a short-term solution in place while progressing with restoring Kosher Kingdom once again.”

The Edgware opening is expected to provide a boost for kosher shoppers across the area as the retailer works towards reopening its Golders Green branch.

This is not the first time the business has operated an Edgware branch; a Kosher Kingdom store was opened in the neighbourhood in 2013, but closed a few years later.
