Kosher restaurants run home deliveries to keep the community fed

Closed kosher restaurants are maintaining a home-delivery model to keep the community fed.

A spokesperson for the S-Group, which runs restaurants including Reubens, Pizaza, Soyo, Pizoyo, PITA and Delicatessen, says its still open for business through take-outs, said: “We are trying to do our very best by maintaining a safe and clean environment and to keep our customers safe as well as our precious staff”.

Its restaurants, which have branches in Golders Green, Hendon, Hampstead and Borehamwood, will remain open for home delivery via Deliveroo “as long as we are able to.”

It added: “No one knows which limitations we might face later on. We are trying to keep our heads in the game and we are still here happy to serve everyone. We are coping”.

Meanwhile, One Ashbourne in Hampstead Garden Suburb took the “difficult decision, like so many other industry friends, to close” amid the outbreak.

On its website, it thanked “everyone who has eaten with us in these difficult times and sent messages of support and solidarity. We will be back as soon as possible. Stay safe and healthy.”

Elsewhere, The Aviv restaurant in Edgware set up an “in-house extended delivery service in an effort to mitigate these challenging times.”

The service is “contact-free delivery available on request where a driver will drop food on your doorstep”.

In Stamford Hill, Parkside Kosher Restaurant told Jewish News it had closed its doors “as we didn’t want to take any responsibility for spreading the virus”, while nearby, Deli Ninety Eight said it has not previously used Deliveroo, but “now enquired” about using the firm. It also “halved our delivery charge for orders under £40 and orders over £40 are free delivery”, in a bid to encourage more orders.
