Labour faces legal action in bid to disclose leakers of antisemitism report

The Labour Party faces legal action to force it to disclose the names of those who leaked an internal report into antisemitism last April.

The dossier, intended to be submitted to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) inquiry, sought to present staff opposed to Corbyn’s leadership of the party as hindering the fight against antisemitism.

Mark Lewis, a lawyer representing clients bringing data protection cases in the wake of the leak, is seeking a High Court order to force the party to disclose the names of the leakers.

This could then lead to future legal proceedings involving the leakers over the “untrue” allegations. A hearing is due to take place at the High Court on Monday.

Mr Lewis, a partner at Patron Law, told Jewish News: “The hearing will get behind the actual source of the leaks, so that the individuals will be able to hit back and establish why the claims are untrue despite the euphoria of many, including sitting MPs and Union leaders who should know better.”

An unredacted version of the report was leaked, which included personal details of Jewish members alleging misconduct.
