The controversy surrounding anti-Semitism the Labour Party surfaced during a leadership debate on Thursday night, in which both contenders were heckled on the issue.

Owen Smith accused Jeremy Corbyn of failing to do enough to stamp out anti-Semitism in the Labour Party since he became leader.

The incumbent leader stressed that he was tackling the issue – having suspended 19 people for allegations of racism.
