Lineup for Limmud under lockdown announced

The lineup for next month’s lockdown Limmud has been announced, which organisers say has been “adapted for our socially-distanced times”.

Organisers of the online event, being held on Sunday 3 May, said it would “encompass all the distinctive elements of Limmud” but be “adapted for our socially distanced times”.

The learning and culture event is now a global Jewish phenomenon, having been founded in the UK in 1980, and organisers said they were “curating accessible learning during the coronavirus pandemic” with sessions covering the Torah, history and politics, arts and culture, social action, and the pandemic.

Other speakers will include bioethicist Baroness Ruth Deech, JSwipe founder David Yarus, columnist Jonathan Freedland, former IDF spokeswoman Miri Eisin, lawyer and author Philippe Sands, and Senior Reform Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner.

“Limmud builds Jewish communities based on learning,” said Limmud chair Shosh Bloom. “Whilst we might be physically distant, we are re-imagining our community in this difficult time. This virtual Limmud brings you one step further on your Jewish journey, from the safety of your living room.”

The event is accessible to all, with a concessionary £1 place to anyone financially affected by coronavirus, as well as to Limmud volunteers.
