Lions U15 crowned League champions

Maccabi London Lions White have clinched the Watford Friendly League U15 title

Having secured promotion last weekend, Maccabi London Lions U15s clinched the title as they played Sun Sports for a title-deciding last game of the season.

In a tight and tense first half, there were very few clear cut chances and honours were even at the break. With very little between the team, Lions started to play some good football but knew they had to be at their best to keep an attacking Sun Sports at bay.

Early in the second half, Jake Aspis from just outside the penalty box latched on to a poor clearance from a corner to put Maccabi Lions ahead. With fifteen minutes left Sun Sports levelled the score and pushed Lions hard in the last stages of the game. There was some great individual performances and Freddy Nash, man of the match, put in a great midfield performance alongside a very gutsy team performance.

Manager Nimi Schwarzmann was delighted with the way his squad acquitted themselves, saying: “The boys have worked really hard all season and winning the league title is a fantastic achievement.

“We have a strong squad work ethic and our coach Steve Grenfell has worked tirelessly with the boys all season, it has been a pleasure to manage the squad and look forward to the boys giving a good account of themselves this coming Sunday in the Challenge Trophy Final.”
