Celebrity chef Lisa Roukin helped rustle up more than £2,000 for families in need living in Israel.

Organised by Migdal Ohr, which supports 12,000 deprived, orphaned and at-risk Jewish children across Israel, the event raised much-needed funds for the charity’s Chag Saveah for Children Campaign.

Held each year, Chag Saveah distributes food parcels to impoverished families across Israel before the Jewish New Year and Passover.

Around 25 women supported the event, hosted by Mimi Benisty, and featured a cookery demonstration from the well-known chef and author, who also spoke about her journey of healthy eating.

Amit Fraser, executive director of Migdal Ohr UK, who also addressed the event, said: “Israel has made tremendous progress in improving the welfare and development of the country, but still more than 260,000 children remain at-risk in Israel – a figure we cannot live with, especially considering this is one of the highest poverty rates in the developed world.
