‘I just wanted to work as hard as I could’

We spoke to Yavneh College’s Alex Harris, 16, who received 7A* 2 9’s and an 8. He told us: “I’m taking Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths and staying at Yavneh. The new grading system took some getting used to, but wasn’t too bothered, I just wanted to work as hard as I could”

‘The new system is pretty good’

We spoke to JCoSS’s Itay Yaniv, 16 who recieved 9A*, an A and 27. He told us the “new system is pretty good, it makes you a better student, you stand out, it’s harder the get an A*. There’s more variety and more scores to get”

‘If you work hard you’ll still get good grades’

Adam Caplan, 16, studies at JCoSS and received 5A*, 2A, B, 6, 7 & 9).

Speaking to Jewish news, he said: “Doing Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics, I don’t have a problem with the new system because if you work hard you’ll still get good grades” (JCOSS)

PaJeS chief welcomes ‘outstanding’ results

Following strong GCSE results from Jewish schools across London, Rabbi David Meyer Executive Director of the Partnerships for Jewish Schools (PaJeS) congratulated students.

“The outstanding GCSE results are especially noteworthy given the changes in the curriculum, and reflects the high standards of education being delivered in Jewish schools across the country.

“Students across the ability range are performing exceptionally well and these results will reinforce the confidence parents are showing in their schools, and in the desire to send their children to Jewish schools.”
