Liverpool student union marks 7 October anniversary with Palestine bake sale
EXCLUSIVE: 'Time for dessert' says flyer for event as Jewish communities mark solemn second commemoration of Hamas massacre
The University of Liverpool students’ union is hosting a bake sale for Palestine on the second anniversary of the 7 October Hamas atrocities.
A poster promoting the ‘Palestine Bake Sale’ says “Time for Dessert” will be held on Tuesday 7 October 2025, at the Liverpool Guild and is hosted by @LivGlobalRelief, a Liverpool University charity society which aims to “raise awareness about humanitarian issues around the world” together with @uolbakesoc, the university’s baking society.
The charity society is also publicising a ‘Vigil for Gaza, Two Years of Genocide” on Wednesday 8 October, in collaboration with the University of Liverpool Islamic Society, University of Liverpool Muslim Medics, Liverpool Arab Society, University of Liverpool’s Sudanese Society and Liverpool Palestine Society.
Speaking to Jewish News on condition of anonymity, a Jewish student at the University said: “I was really upset that the Guild approved it and let it happen. October 7th was a terrorist attack against Jewish people and they’re celebrating it with a bake sale. It makes me feel personally attacked and not safe as a Jewish student on campus.”
Jewish News has contacted the Liverpool Guild and the University of Liverpool.
