Livingstone loses LBC role as he awaits Labour party fate

Former London mayor's contract with LBC Radio will not be renewed following Hitler remarks, Jewish News can reveal

Ken Livingstone is surrounded by the press after being thrown into controversy, by suggesting Hitler supported Zionism

Ken Livingstone will not be returning to the LBC airwaves in the wake of his controversial comments on Hitler.

Jewish News can reveal that bosses at the radio station have decided the former mayor will not be returning to the airwaves at the end of his contract.

He is currently a co-presenter of a programme on Saturday mornings though he has been absent in recent weeks because of rules in the lead up to the EU referendum.

An LBC spokesperson told the Jewish News: “Ken Livingstone is not currently presenting on LBC and will not be returning at the end of his contract.”

The controversial politician was suspended by Labour last month after telling another radio station that Hitler supported Zionism before he “went mad”. The then repeatedly refused to say sorry to the Jewish community during an subsequent interview on the LBC show he previously presented.

The disciplinary procedure against him is expected to conclude in July but many senior politicians and community leaders have called for his permanent expulsion.
