London boxing event promoting coexistence in Israel postponed due to fears
The 'Gloves and Doves' initiative sought to bring five Jewish and Arab Israelis to fight against British athletes on 2 April
A historic night of boxing in London to promote coexistence in Israel has been postponed due to virus fears.
Gloves and Doves’ inaugural event sought to bring five Jewish and Arab Israelis to the UK for bouts against British fighters on 2 April.
Following sweeping measures announced by both the British and Israeli governments, restricting travel and movement amid the spread of the infection, the occasion has been called off.
Tony Milch, 38, a Jewish former super-welterweight fighter from Edgware, who was the architect of the initiative, said: “We’re keeping positive in these concerning times and look forward to announcing another show date soon.”
“As soon as the situation changes and we get the all-clear, we’ll be looking to get a new date in the diary.”
