London conman who defrauded family found dead

A north London conman who stole £2million from his family has been found dead after allegedly committing suicide.

Robert Miller reportedly ended his life in a hotel room, leaving letters to his wife and children last week.

The conman from Hampstead Garden Suburb stole funds from his wife’s family’s pension trust, after her father made him the agent to the trust., according to Ham and High.

His father in law, Mark Spivack supported Miller after he spent six years in prison, following a scandal in the 1990s, which saw him convicted for stealing £20million whilst director of Dunsdale security.

Spivack, who died in 2012, supported Miller, assisting him in buying property, sending his children’s education and loaning him money,

After Spivack’s death, the fraudster engaged in his scheme to trick his widow into giving him millions.

In early April, a civil claim by the trustees was heard at the Royal Courts of Justice, during which Mrs Spivack described how she was exploited when “I was at my most vulnerable”, by Miller.

She claims that Robert Miller persuaded her to sign off cheques for ventures that didn’t exist, and sign disclaimers to say she was to blame if he was caught.

A source close to the family described Miller as “the lowest of the low”, describing his crime as “sickening.”
