Lord Kestenbaum named Team GB President for 2015 Euro Games

Lord Jonathan Kestenbaum has been named as President of Team Maccabi GB for the forthcoming European Maccabi Games in Berlin in July 2015.

Maccabi GB, in partnership with UJIA, announced the appointment of Lord Kestenbaum, who is a long term Maccabi GB supporter and was President of Team GB at last summer’s 19th Maccabiah Games, as well as the 2011 European Maccabi Games in Vienna. Jonathan has represented Great Britain in Masters Football at the 2001 Maccabiah; in 2009 he managed the GB Open Football team at the 18th Maccabiah in Israel (his team went on to reach the Final and became the first Open Football team in fifty years to win a medal).

Chief Operating Officer at RIT Capital Partners PLC, the publicly quoted investment trust founded by Lord Rothschild, he is also Chairman of Five Arrows Limited, the investment company controlled by Lord Rothschild’s family interests.  In January 2011, he was appointed to The House of Lords and became Lord Kestenbaum of Foxcote.

Maccabi GB Head of Delegation, Daniel Collins, said of the appointment: “We are delighted that Jonathan has agreed to continue as Team Maccabi GB President for the 2015 European Maccabi Games. Jonathan’s unwavering support built on his own Maccabi GB experiences coupled with his enthusiasm and love for Jewish education will be an inspiration to the whole squad.”

Lord Kestenbaum added: “I am delighted and honoured to once again accept the position of President of Team Maccabi GB at the 2015 European Maccabi Games. I strongly identify with Maccabi GB’s mission and am thrilled to maintain an involvement in their International Events.”
