Israeli-backed private equity platform, Cogress UK, has appointed Lord Mendelsohn as the head of its advisory committee.

In his new role, the Labour peer will provide strategic counsel to the Cogress senior management team, in the wake of the firm’s recent entrance into the UK market.

The appointment follows Cogress’ October launch in Hendon, where the firm unveiled its distinctive real estate funding model, the first of its kind in the UK after being pioneered in Israel.

Cogress’ platform carefully matches investors and vetted entrepreneurs seeking funding for residential and commercial property developments. Since entering the UK market Cogress now has 11 projects with a Gross Development Value (GDV) of £130m.

Tal Orly, chief executive officer, at Cogress UK, commented: “We are delighted to have Lord Menselsohn on board. We look forward to working closely with him as we grow the business.”
