A new multi-faith prayer room will be open around the clock at London Luton Airport.

The room, near departure gate 20, will be open to staff and departing passengers, complete with prayer mats and texts for different faiths.

Carpeting will also feature prayer directions for those who require it, with religious washing facilities and toilets are also available nearby.

The Airport Chaplaincy led by The Revd. Canon Liz Hughes advised Luton Airport, and contractors on the design and finishing of the room.

In August, Monarch Airlines announced two new scheduled routes to Israel from London Luton Airport.

The budget airline will fly to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport and Eilat’s Ovda Airport from December, with flights now on sale.

The airline previously operated a route to Israel as part of its charter service more than a decade ago.

The direct flights will operate three times a week to Tel Aviv (Monday, Thursday and Sunday) and once a week, on a Thursday to Ovda with one-way flights available for the launch from £89 outbound and £49 inbound.
