Luzon ‘delighted’ with Charlton debut

Guy Luzon took charge of Charlton for the first time on Saturday, and said he was “delighted” with the performance as they drew 0-0 at Wolves.

Able to take his place in the dug-out after seeing his work permit come through earlier in the week, he said: “I think that when we arrived we knew that Wolves were in fantastic momentum after four wins in a row and we know that to stop that momentum and start a positive momentum for us we had to be well organised.

“We need to be close and encourage one another and I think we did well because Wolves have a lot of quality and talent in their attack and they have scored a lot of goals.

“But we were organised well and in the second half we created some chances to take all three points – but we are satisfied and delighted for our performance.”

And just as happy to keep a clean sheet, he said: “We have kept a clean sheet only six times in 26 matches and it was very important for my first game to keep a clean sheet, and from here we need to improve. I am not defensive minded but if you want to collect points first you need to get a clean sheet.

“This is the first step and the second step is to continue and get more options to score in attack.”
