Man who shouted he’d ‘kill you f****** Jews’ guilty of anti-Semitic abuse
Richard Gary Reed admitted to shouting the hateful abuse and was fined £300 and other costs
A man from Ipswich has been found guilty of religiously-aggravated harassment and fined £300 after reportedly shouting: “I’m going to kill you f***ing Jews.”
Richard Gary Reed pleaded guilty at Ipswich Magistrate’s Court late last month after shouting anti-Semitic offence towards a visibly Jewish man who had entered a pub with friends in Suffolk on 5 August.
Reed made gun gestures towards the victim, shouting: “I’m going to kill you f**king Jews, I know where you are.”
The landlady called the Police, who arrived and arrested Reed at the scene. Last week he was ordered to pay a £300 fine, as well as court costs, a victim surcharge and compensation.
The victim, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “I was shocked that this anti-Semitic abuse happened whilst I was out in the country, I didn’t expect this type of threatening behaviour.”
He added: “I was relieved with the response from the Police who took the abuse seriously, and the Community Security Trust supported me with the case after I reported the incident.”
The CST said it wished to thank the Crown Prosecution Service and the Police for their action in this case, and the victim for reporting it.
