Marathon duo finish outside top-90

Differing results for Israeli women duo.

Maor Tiyouri finished the women's marathon in 90th place

Maor Tiyouri ran a respectable time in Sunday’s women’s race – given that she only ran her first marathon a couple of months ago.

The three-time Israeli national champion -1500m and 5,000m in 2013 and 1,500m in 2015, she is also the Israeli record holder in the 5,000m.

However, she only ran her first marathon back in May – finishing the Ottawa Marathon in a time of 2:42:20, and was only five minutes slower in Rio, finishing in a time of 2:47:27. That was good enough to secure a 90th place finish, with the race being won by Kenyan Jemima Jelagat Sumgong in a time of 2:24:04.

Israel’s other representative, Lornah Chemtai Korlima, failed to finish the race.
