Masters football review – week 15
The resumption of the Masters League saw Raiders extend their lead in Division One and a superb six-goal salvo, writes Jeremy Silverstone.
The lead at the top of Division One has been increased to eight points, while Lloyd Nygate scored six for Glenthorne.
DIVISION ONE:
TABLE
North London Raiders A are eight points clear at the top of the table following a 3-1 win over Scrabble. The latter had led for 77 minutes, as a result of Steven Moss’ lob, but Lee Cash’s double – one from the penalty spot – and Alex Bourne’s strike ensured they maintained their perfect record and table-topping position.
London Lions A moved into second spot after coming out on top in an entertaining goalfest with Brady A. Michael Abraham’s hat-trick, coupled with strikes from Hadley Silver, James Temple and a David Kyte penalty seeing them to a 6-5 win. Scott Warren’s double, along with strikes from Mark Wagman, Kevin Lotzof and Gavin Sherman replied for Brady.
DIVISION TWO:
TABLE
St John’s Wood Tigers moved joint-top of the table as Adam Soller’s goal was sufficient to give them the narrowest of victories over dogged resistance from Hendon Harriers.
Glenthorne are up into third spot as six goals from Lloyd Nygate helped them to a 7-3 win over Marshside. Sid Shaw claimed their other goal, after Jason Rich, Simon Black and Martin Leslie had given Marshside a 3-1 lead.
A second half goal from Russell Rich was all that separated EDRS from Brady B, but it was enough to give them the three points.
