Masters football review – week 16

It was honours even between the past two season's Division One champions, writes Jeremy Silverstone.

North London Raiders saw their perfect start in Division One ended by Chigwell.

DIVISION ONE:
TABLE

Chigwell halted Raiders’ perfect record as the previous two years’ champions fought out a 1-1 draw, with Lee Cash scoring for Raiders and Chigwell benefitting from an own goal.

Honours were even as goals from Tim Frome and Shnayer Shapiro gave Brady A a 2-0 advantage over HMH at the break, but a spirited comeback inspired by two goals from Steve Gordon earned the visitors a 2-2 draw.

DIVISION TWO:
TABLE

Brady came back from 2-0 to lead Marshside 3-2, but had to settle for a draw in the end. Marshside took the lead with goals from Jason Rich and Sacha Alter, but Brady hit back with goals from Dean Poster, Richard Sacks and a 25-yard scorcher from Richard Weisfeld, before Marshside rescued a point with a late equaliser from Justin Woolf.

Meanwhile, Lions B continued their seemingly inevitable progress towards another title with a 4-0 win over EDRS, thanks to a hat-trick from Max Radford and goal from David Pollock.

Temple Fortune recorded a win over Hendon Harriers with Robert Botkai and Yali Mamouri giving Fortune the upper hand, before Brian Deal’s lob halved the deficit and gave Harriers hope. However, Dean Ingram wrapped up the points for Temple Fortune as he scored their third in a 3-1 victory.
