Masters review – title favourites clash on opening day

The Maccabi Masters League kicked off on Sunday with two of those bidding to become champions meeting each other.

Mark Wagman scored a hat-trick for Brady

There was drama aplenty on the opening morning of this season’s Masters League with an injury time strike proving to be the difference between two of the title favourites.

DIVISION ONE:

Lawrence Beck’s first half strike gave Brady A the advantage and it looked to have settled the fixture until the final minute, when Lions were awarded a penalty which was duly converted by Bradley Lazarus. However, their joy was short-lived, however, when Mark Wagman scored an injury-time winner to give Brady a 2-1 win.

Also in action were Hendon Harriers, who started their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Marshside, thanks to goals from Simon Black and Jason Rich. Sacha Alter proved Marshside’s reply.

St John’s Wood Tigers signalled their intentions with a 6-1 win over Temple Fortune. Jonny Feinmesser bagged a hat-trick, with John Perloff, Jason Bentley and Paul Herszaft also on target. James Ryan netted Fortune’s consolation.
