Messy dispute over Borehamwood council bin

A BOREHAMWOOD resident has declared war on his local council after a messy dispute over a missing rubbish bin, writes Natasha Sporn.

Justin Tepper, 41, put his bin out for morning collection  as normal but returned home to an empty space.

On contacting the council, the Theobald Street resident was told that if he did not purchase a new £35 bin, his rubbish would not be collected.

Tepper, who is an accountant, took to Facebook to express his discontent, asking the council: “Your property was stolen from your street or lost by your employees, why are you trying to con me out of £35?”

He has spoken to a local councillor and the mayor of Elstree & Borehamwood Richard Butler, who supports his fight.

A spokesman for Hertsmere Borough Council told the Borehamwood Times: “Bins should still be on a resident’s property – if people choose to put it onto public land that is not our responsibility.”
