Met arrest five teenagers after alleged Stamford Hill kidnap attempt

Police say the Jewish victim was approached by one of the males and allegedly told the victim to get into the boot of the car, shortly before driving off

Police at the scene of an incident in Stamford Hill in north London where a car is reported to have mounted the pavement and struck a number of pedestrians.

Five teenagers have been arrested in connection with an alleged kidnap attempt of a Jewish man in Stamford Hill, north London.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed three 17-year-olds, one 15-year-old, and an 18-year-old had been arrested following reports of an attempted kidnap on Moundfield Road at around 5:24pm on Friday, April 26.

In a video of the incident posted on X by the Shomrim, a Jewish neighbourhood watch group, a black car drives down the narrow street before at least two males get out.

One of the other males is opening the boot of the car.

The victim can be seen speaking into his mobile phone, and the males turn around and get back into the car before attempting to drive off backwards down the road.

According to the Met the victim was approached and told to get into the boot of the car.


In a post on X/Twitter the police said on Monday evening:”Five teenagers, three aged 17, one 15 and one 18-years-old have been arrested and taken into custody in connection with a reported attempted kidnap in Stamford Hill.

“Officers in Hackney are investigating the incident which happened on Friday in Moundfield Road, N16.”

The Met’s initial statement on the incident read: “An investigation is under way after a reported kidnapping attempt of a male in Stamford Hill. At around 5:24pm on Friday, April 26, the victim – a Jewish male – was walking on Moundfield Road, when a car pulled up beside him and two males got out of the vehicle.

In a statement they added:”The victim was approached by one of the males and allegedly told the victim to get into the boot of the car, shortly before driving off. The incident was reported to the police and an investigation was launched by officers based in Hackney.

“We are aware of a video being shared online and this will form part of our enquiries. We are in contact with the Shomrim and our enquiries are ongoing.”
