MGB handball side hunted by the hawks

Maccabi GB’s handball side made their competitive debut on Sunday, though ended up on the wrong end of a 28-6 scoreline to the Fulham Hawks.

Physicality was the name of the game for Maccabi GB as they had conceded a whopping 44 goals a week prior in their final pre-season friendly. However, this would not be the case again in SportHouse, Dagenham, as the defence stepped it up a notch to prohibit a repeat performance. Special mention must go to goalkeeper, Joshua Pinhass, whose man-of-the-match heroics halted a potential onslaught. As did the aggression of Pivot, Daniel Sichel, who received two ‘Sin Bins’ throughout the game, not uncommon in the sport.

Despite doubles from Tony Tropp and Alex Elf, plus one apiece from Dean Caplin and captain Liam Stein, the MGB attack was particularly static and did not pose too many threats to a ruthless Fulham team who now sit top of the table after two wins from two.

Next up for the community’s only competitive handball side is a home fixture against Ruislip Eagles II at Watford Leisure Centre Central on Sunday 9, November, 12:30pm throw-off.
