Redbridge came out of the blocks firing and totally dominated Lions from the off. The opening goal arrived after just one minute when a perfect through ball from Ben Sollosi picked out his returning younger brother, Nathan for a crisp finish .

They doubled their advantage from a corner, which saw a debut goal scored by Jason Goldstein, and just before half-time, captain Darren Brown got the faintest touch to finish off another set-piece.

Despite their fine first half performance, Redbridge played the second in second gear and struggled to find any momentum. Lions deservedly pulled one goal with 25 minutes to go, which led to Redbridge making a few tactical changes, seeing Adam Hakimi move into the midfield to toughen things up, while Jordan Sapler was brought on to shore things up in defence.

A breakaway by Nathan Sollosi saw a beautiful finish from the excellent James Berkley, with the last ten minutes seeing Garfinkle have a host of one-on-ones, but the Lions goalkeeper stood firm.

Redbridge now have a week off before facing old friends Hendon in what should be a titanic battle.

Manager Jon Jacobs said: “The first half performance was our best 45 minutes for a long time, totally dominating and playing some fabulous pass and move football. The second half was as disappointing as could be.”
