Mitzvah Day 365 is set to boost its interfaith work with the help of new funding from the Pears Foundation.

A record 54 interfaith projects were part of last year’s Mitzvah Day, but the new grant will enable the charity to employ an interfaith professional to further grow this work to include more sessions bringing together people of different faiths to cook for the homeless at JW3.

Laura Marks, who founded Mitzvah Day, said:

“It has never been more important in the UK than now to build strong, personal interfaith relationships. Isolation, ignorance, prejudice and hatred thrive, unless as Jews we go out of our comfort zone and reach out. “This honour is recognition of the work of the organisation as a whole: of our Inter Faith Chair and Trustee, Daniela Pears, of every one of the Interfaith project coordinators and the 35,000 volunteers who make Mitzvah Day what it is.”

The foundation incubated Mitzvah Day as one of its initial residents of JHub and has also funded Mitzvah Day since its inception.
