Mixed fortunes for Israel’s marathon runners

Girmaw Amare was the only Israeli to finish the men's marathon

Israel’s four marathon runners enjoyed mixed fortunes in Sunday’s two races at the World Athletics Championships.

In the men’s race, Girmaw Amare finished in 62nd place in a time of 2.26.37, though Maru Teferi was forced to retire and therefore didn’t finish the race.

In the women’s marathon, Maor Tiyouri finished in a season’s best time of 2.49.45 in 63rd place, while Yelena Dolinin didn’t finish the race.
